2019 Election: Obanoyen Ends Ayorinde’s NASS Adventure

Sadiq Obanoyen has won the Peoples Democratic Party’s ticket for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency ahead of the 2019 general election in a tension soaked primary election conducted in Owo on Wednesday. Obanoyen’s victory effectively ended Bode Ayorinde’ s dream of returning to the House of Representatives in 2019.

Ayorinde, a serving member of the House Representatives lost the the primary election by  34 votes after poling 107 votes while the winner polled 141, The third contestant, Toyin Abitoye polled, 54 votes.

Speaking after the election result was declared,by the National Working Committee of the PDP, an elated Obanoyen ‎paid tribute to the delegates who found him worthy to fly the Party’s flag to contest the general election next year. He also saluted the support of party elders in the Constituency and called on the party to come together for the big work ahead.

“This is one of the happiest days of my life, I’m elated to know that I’m loved by my people,” Obanoyen said amid tears and joy. “I must thank the delegates for finding me worthy to fly our great Party’s flag next year. I must also thank the elders of our party especially  Dr Bode Olajumoke and  Dr Ojomo for their support and our teeming supporters for this victory. It is not my victory but victory for the people of Ose and Owo Federal Constituency.

“I must also thank my principal, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu for supporting and encouraging me. I must say the real change has ‎come to my people by this singular act.

“We must now brace up for the real one, the general election and by the grace of God  we shall overcome.”

Obanoyen  paid tribute to other contestants, especially. Bode Ayorinde for giving a good fight but was quick to add that in every contest there must be winners and losers.He called on them to come together and work with him for PDP to win the seat at the National Assembly come 2019.

Obanoyen hails from same Federal Constituency as the incumbent governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Akeredolu  but he says no mountain would be too high for him to climb and no valley too large to traverse in the course of serving the people of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency. He agrees that Governor Akeredolu will be a factor on where the pendulum will swing but quickly adds that the constituency has not benefitted from Akeredolu’s government in the last two years.
