Former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a leading gubernatorial aspirant in Ondo State, Dr. Eddy Eniola Olafeso Thursday took his nomination form at the Wadata Plaza in Abuja saying the road to redemption in the state has begun.
Olafeso who had resigned as the vice chairman of the party told party faithful that the road to redemption has kicked off.
“Today marks a critical step in the journey to redress the lopsided, debilitating and decaying state of infrastructure, education, social and human capital/capacity development that have dogged every sphere of the Ondo state milieu,” Olafeso said. “The political experience in Ondo state as presently configured is not only skewed in appointment towards a particular community in such a flagrant violation of the spirit of the Federal Character of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended but also in the few vaunted infrastructure deliberately abandoning critical areas of governance.”
He added: “We have all it takes to be rich as a state and it is tragic that we are still a state waiting for federal allocations despite all what we’ve been blessed with.”
While reassuring party faithful of his commitment to the growth and unity of the Party, Olafeso said: “I am a team player. I am an Olympian. That we are many competing will not tear the party apart. People now know that the ticket is worth something and that’s responsible for everyone coming up to jostle for it. It is a testament to how great we’ve built this party in the last four years.”
Olafeso, accompanied by PDP bigwigs in Ondo State, was received by the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus ably represented by the Deputy Chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi. Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, Zonal Secretary of PDP in the South West, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, and the Organising Secretary of Afenifere, Chief Kole Omololu, former House of Assembly members, PDP LG Chairmen and delegates were some of the dignitaries in attendance.
