Mrs. Hassana Garuba, wife of the former Edo Speaker, Alhaji  Zakawanu Garuba, who was abducted along the Lokoja-Abuja highway on Saturday, July 18, 2020, was released last night.

The younger brother to the deceased confirmed the development to newsmen on phone last night.

Alhaji Zakawanu Garuba, 54, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2009, passed on at an Abuja hospital Saturday morning due to a yet-to-be-disclosed ailment.

The family was conveying the former Speaker’s remains to Auchi, his homestead in Etsako West local government area of Edo State, when they ran into an ambush laid by the yet-to-be arrested kidnappers at the popular Kabba junction in Kogi State.

The gunmen abducted Hassana, but left three children and aged mother-in-law, and vanished.
