PDP, CUPP Berate Buhari Over Mali Trip

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) have berated the President Mohammadu Buhari, for allegedly ignoring the internal problems Nigeria is facing, choosing instead to visit Mali.

Both CUPP and PDP released separate statements berating the President’s trip to Mali, considering the immense security problems the country itself is facing, which according to them should be of priority, while still emphasising a solution to the political tension in Mali.

In a statement titled, “Mali Trip: Visit Katsina, Kaduna, Borno others Now, PDP Tells Buhari…Urges Mr President To Address Issues At Home” signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja, on Sunday, the PDP said President Buhari’s visit to Mali was ill-timed, even at a time when the country has been witnessing incessant insecurity issues “under his incompetent watch.”

The PDP also called on the President to respond to distress calls from Nigerians in states like Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Benue, Borno, Adamawa, Sokoto, Yobe and other states daily ravaged by bandits, insurgents, kidnappers, and marauders.

The party further said the silence of the President on the insecurity issues is a misplacement of governance and a blatant disregard for the protection of the Nigerian people.
