Sani Bello, Niger State Gov, Tests Positive for COVID-19

The governor of Niger State Governor, Mr. Abubakar Sani Bello, has swelled the statistics of executives who tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 infection.

Governor Bello’s infection was revealed, Monday, on his verified Twitter handle, adding that he had consequently proceeded on self-isolation.

“I have tested positive for COVID-19,” the governor tweeted. “I am asymptomatic and generally okay but I am already self-isolating and receiving the best of care.”

Other governors who have contracted the virus in the past include: Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

The Presidential Task Force against the spread of coronavirus has, in recent weeks, repeatedly warned Nigerians against dropping their guard and masks against the deadly virus in view of the erroneous belief that Nigeria had flattened the curve and possibly defeated the virus ostensibly because of dropping prevalence statistics.

Epidemologists and other public health experts have warned that despite the reduction in the number of active cases in the country in recent times, a second wave of the coronavirus was possible if Nigerians continue to shun the safety protocols to curtail the spread of the virus as prescribed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
