Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in last Sunday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump, candidate of the Republican Party in the November Presidential vote in America, was slammed with a two-count charge on Monday.
According to a CNN report, Ryan, 58, who owns a small building business, and described as a “perfect gentleman” by his daughter, was charged with possession of a firearm while a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number during an initial appearance in federal court Monday.
Additional charges may be slammed against him, CNN quoted officials involved with the investigation. The report also said that investigators slammed the initial gun-related charges against Routh to enable them hold him in custody.
The suspect, who was wearing dark prison scrubs with his feet and hands shackled reportedly said “yes” to questions asked by Magistrate Judge Ryon M. McCabe.
The court was said to have assigned a federal public defender, Kristy Militello, for Routh when it was discovered he could not afford a lawyer because he had “zero funds” in his own savings.
