Murdered Popular Ilesa Hotelier Buried, As Mourners Demand Justice
The remains of Mr. Oke Olawuyi Falode, a popular Ilesa, Osun State-based businessman and hotelier, who was murdered Wednesday, last week, by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen, were laid to rest, Thursday, at his Imo residence in the town.
Falode, 41, and a father of six, was gruesomely assassinated by gunmen who reportedly stalked him as he drove near his home that ill-fated night.
According to reports, Falode, popularly known as Falola, who was the owner of Falola Hotel and Suites, was reportedly trailed by the gunmen who allegedly rode a motorcycle, and shot him severally at close range as he neared his gate around Fadahunsi Street, in the Imo area of Ilesha. The time, according to unconfirmed sources, was 9p.m.
The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, told journalists in Osogbo, the capital, that investigation into the heinous crime had commenced as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie.
Tears flowed freely at Mr. Falode’s burial yesterday even as mourners never stopped wondering what would have prompted such dastardly act.
Mourners urged the police not allow Mr. Falode’s murder add to the growing list of unresolved assassinations in the country. They urged scrupulous investigation and speedy arrest of the masterminds of the brutal crime.
The late Mr. Falode is survived by his aged mother, siblings, wife, six children, two of who are just five and three months old respectively.
