#EndSARS Protests: Groundnut Seller Hits Goldmine at Lekki Tollgate, Gets N2.3m from Protesters

All things work together for good to them that love God says the Holy Book. And this appears to be the verse for an average old woman at the Lekki Tollgate on Thursday where the #EndSARS protesters have occupied in the last five days.

The woman (name not given) and popularly called Mama by the youth protesters is a groundnut seller making brisk money since the protests started with the lockdown of the tollgate.

But Mama hit the goldmine on Thursday when the angry protesters contributed N2.3 million and asked her to go home and start real business – never to hawk groundnut again.

“Mama was selling boiled groundnuts to the #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate Lagos,” an eye-witness revealed..”After asking her a few questions, the protesters embarked on a fund raising spree which yielded N2.3 million on the spot.

“ Wonderful!  N2,350,000 was raised for the groundnut woman. Initially, N250k was raised but two celebrities and a Super Eagles player skyrocketed the donations.”

The bemused woman instantly fell into trance only to wake at home after two bouncers guarded her home with her gift and told her not to come there again telling her to  start a business.”

The eye-witness also revealed that the protesters always clean up the tollgate area early in the morning before they begin their operation and turn the whole thing to a funfare.
