Mayhem in Okitipupa as Protesters Release Prison Inmates, Burn LG Secretariat, Police Station
Hoodlums on Thursday broke into the headquarters of the National Correctional Service Centre, NCS, in Okitipupa, Ondo State, and forcefully released over 200 inmates while vehicles were burnt..
The hoodlums were first went to the police headquarters along Old Ode-Aye Road where the set the station ablaze and released several motorcycles to the public.
In what an eye-witness described as the return of the Agbekoya, the hoodlums were not deterred by the several gunshots at them as they walked leisurely across the town.
Also, eyewitnesses revealed that several items were destroyed on the premises of the prison.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command of NCS, Ogundare Babatunde, confirmed the incident via telephone.
