In deference to the memory and contributions of the departed Former Ghanaian President, Jerry John Rawlings, another former President, John Dramani Mahama, also current standard bearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, in this year’s presidential election, has momentarily suspended his campaign.
President Mahama announced this on his official twitter handle, praying for the repose of the soul of the departed revolutionary leader.
Rawlings, who ruled Ghana, both as military Head of State and civilian President, succmbed to COVID-19 Thursday morning in Accra.
Mourning Mahama wrote in the tweet:
“I have announced the suspension of my tour of the Ashanti Region and all NDC campaigns across the country, following news of the passing of our Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
