Troops Repel Boko Haram Attack on Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway, Kill 4 Insurgents
In a battled that raged for about three hours on Sunday, at least four Boko Haram fighters were killed by the military who punctured a brazen attempt by the insurgents to swoop on a military detachment stationed at Lawan-Mainari village on Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
The village is a few kilometres from Jakana which, itself, had been severally targeted by Boko Haram in the past.
For the time that the gun battle raged, vehicular movement was stalled on the highway, sources said.
One of the sources also disclosed that several insurgents were seriously injured even as they retreated into the bush.
