Ikale Heritage Development Association Felicitates with Tunde Balogun, Lagos APC Chair at 70
The Ikale Heritage Development Association, IHDA, both home and abroad has joined millions of Nigerians and the All Progressive Congress members to felicitate with the dynamic chairman of the party in Lagos State, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, who turned 70 today.
Chairman of the association, Otunba Sola Olatunji in his warmth message to the celebrant said the entire , Ikales community in Lagos “are happy to associate and celebrate with our amiable and dependable personality, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Lagos State APC caretaker Chairman as he turns 70.
“You have been a supportive and dependable leader as we wish you many more years of fruitfulness to humanity in good health, long life and prosperity. Happy birthday to you sir.”
Alhaji Babatunde Alade Balogun was born on March 13, 1951. He attended Tinubu Methodist School, Lagos Island, for his primary education and Ahmadiyya College , Agege, for his secondary school and Higher School Certificate education.
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc Hons) in Social Science, the APC chairman worked with United Trading Company (UAC) from 1977 – 1981 before he left to establish his own business outfit, Bailey – Babs Nigeria Limited, which specialized in sales and service of computer software.
His foray into partisan politics started with the defunct Second Republic when he became a member of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Third Republic.
At the advent of Fourth republic in 1996, he was elected the vice chairman of Apapa Local Government Council and in 1999, he was appointed first as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and later that of Home Affairs and Culture in 2002, a position he held till 2011 at expiration of first tenure of Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola.
