The Oyo State Police Commnad, Tuesday, slammed the alleged kidnap kingpin and Fulani warlord in Ibarapa, 70-year-old Iskil Wakili, and his sons Abu, 45; and Samaila, 27; as well as Aliyu Manu, 20; with a six-count charge of conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu of the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, refused to take the suspects’ plea citing lack of jurisdiction.
Consequently, the Chief Magistrate ordered the Police to remand Wakili and his sons in the Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo State.
The court also ordered that their case files be transfered to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advise, and adjourned the case till May 17, 2021, for mention.
Farmers and residents of Ayete, Kajola and neighbouring villages in Ibarapaland had been living in the fear and trepidation of the septuagenarian Fulani warlord and his sons whom they accused of terrorising farmers in their farms, kidnapping affluent natives for ransom and raping their women.
Meanwhile, the court also orderded that Wakili and his sons be made to cool their heels in prison custody.
