Senate to pass Budget 2019 on April 16
…As Buhari refuses to sign National Housing Fund Bill, 7 others
Less than two months to the expiration of the 8th National Assembly and the inauguration of a new government, the Senate finally resolved, on Tuesday, to pass the 2019 Appropriation Bill promised to pass the 2019 budget on April 16.
President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, made the announcement at Tuesday’s plenary, urging sub-committees of the Appropriation Committee to submit their reports by Friday this week,
This development came on the heels of the refusal, by President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the controversial National Housing Fund Bill and seven others recently passed by the National Assembly.
Before adjourning plenary till April 9, Saraki had also mandated the Appropriation panel to submit its report between April 9 and 11, 2019.
This, he said, was to enable relevant committees to complete budget defence sessions with ministries, departments and agencies.
