Official Driver of President Muhammadu Buhari, Master Warrant Officer, Sa’idu Afaka, died on Tuesday at the State House Clinic, after what the Presidency described as “prolonged illness.”

Afaka’s death has thrown the seat of power into mourning as many stafers attested that he was a jolly good fellow.

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said President Muhammadu Buhari, currently on medical tour of the United Kingdom, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Afaka’s family.

The President, continues Garba Shehu, has also commiserated with the Government and people of Kaduna State, describing the late Afaka as “an honest, capable and reliable person who handled his job with utmost care and responsibility.”

“The President recalls that in 2016, the soldier, while on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, picked up a bag containing a large amount of foreign currencies and turned it over to the National Hajj Commission, an action which earned him praises from the Saudi and Nigerian authorities,” Shehu added in the statement.

Buhari then prayed Almighty Allah to ‘‘bless the soul of the departed with an elevated place in heavens,’’ even as he committed the family and friends of the deceased to divine comfort and patience.
