Ghana’s king of the theatre, John Dumelo, Friday, took a long look at the worsening economic situation in his motherland, and just stopped short of accusing Ghanaian journalists of a conspiracy of silence.

He said journalists in the country were strangely silent over the worsening public utilities and infrastructure under the Nana Akufo-Ado Presidency because they were intimidated, unlike under former President John Mahama where “they talk and know they can breath freely.”

Dumelo, a renowned thespian, politician, farmer, rights activist and social mobilizer, took to his official Twitter handle, @johndumelo1, to vent his spleen on the situation in Ghana, his country.

In a Fela style, Dumelo wrote: “No light, no water, high fuel, corruption, no jobs etc. The journalists are silent because they fear for their lives. Yet, during JM’s time, they talk and know they can breath freely. These days, there is freedom of expression, but no freedom after expressing.”
