The National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressive Congress (APC) has cleared the nomination of Great Ogboru as its gubernatorial candidate for Delta State thereby rejecting Professor Pat Utomi.
There were two factional gubernatorial primaries in the Delta State as reported. While Professor Utomi emerged as the winner of one of the factions, Chief Ogboru was elected by the other.
The NWC of the APC has released 24 names of cleared candidates including Chief Great Ogboru for Delta to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 election.
Also cleared is Prince Dapo Abiodun for Ogun State. The clearance of Abiodun is a major blow to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who supports Abdulkabir Akinlade, a member of the House of Representatives.
APC spokesman, Yekini Nabena in a statement on Friday said the candidates were approved at Thursday’s meeting of the NWC in Abuja.
