Gunmen Storm Oyedepo’s Church, Abduct Worshippers
Dare-devil gunmen defiled the sanctity of the church of God, weekend, as they invaded a branch of Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church Worldwide at the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, and abducted an unspecified number of parishioners.
The criminals were reported to have stormed the church shooting sporadically to send people scampering in different directions even as they whisked their hapless victims to an unknown destination.
A source in the area said the kidnappers made away with at least three members of the church.
Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami, confirmed the invasion to newsmen, Monday evening, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Habeeb Jamiu.
Jamiu, who further disclosed that the council chairman had visited the crime scene, accompanied by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Osara Division, also said that the council was working with security agents in the area to speedily and safely free the abducted church members.
The Canaanland world headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide in Ota, Ogun State, is yet to make an official statement on the abduction.
Similarly, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, had not issued any statement as at the time of filing this report.
