Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has knocked the bottom off the claim made by former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on national television, Thursday, that he influenced his (Gov. Umahi’s) defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Femi Fani-Kayode had boasted, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, that he influenced the defection of a number of PDP Governors to APC. These include Professsor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, as well as Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, among others.
The loquacious ex-Minister, who still has a long-running money laundering case hanging on his neck like the Sword of Damocles, also boasted of several governors who were his ‘friends’.
However, Gov. Umahi, later on the same programme on Thursday, rubbished the claim by Fani-Kayode, describing the bogus claim by Fani-Kayode as a monumental insult on his person.
“I think he needs to withdraw that statement, he’s my good friend but, it was an insult on my person and the other governors,” Umahi said on the programme.
“The man did not know when I moved, but incidentally he visited me and we discussed, and he said he was coming to join me with the other governors to declare.
“How will somebody in the PDP be instrumental to my moving?”
