Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Monday, formally reacted to the gruesome murder of APC stalwart, Ahmed Gulak, who was killed Saturday evening on his way to the Owerri airport after completing an assignment in the state.
Uzodinma, in a statewide television and radio broadcast to the people of Imo State, at the Government House in Owerri, expressed shock over the killing, describing it as a “clear case of political assassination”.
Declaring that he was deeply saddened by Gulak’s murder, the governor said the killing further underscored the worrisome state of security in Imo State.
But Uzodinma quickly added that the events of the past few weeks did not represent the true character of the Imo people, even as he assured that his government would not rest until Gulak’s murderers and other career criminals operating in the state were apprehended and brought to justice.
He sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives within the recent period of unrest, most especially the family of late Ahmed Gulak, praying for the repose of their souls.
The governor then rubbished rumors on social media that his convoy was attacked, noting that the attack only existed in the imagination of the purveyors of the “fake news”.
