Nigeria Confirms Second Coronavirus Case
Nigeria has confirmed a second case of coronavirus in the country over one week after the first case.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, made the disclosure during a press conference on Monday, March 9, 2020.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the second case is a contact of the Italian businessman who was first diagnosed of the virus, in Ogun.
The NCDC stated that the patient has been in isolation and was tested as part of its strategy to test everyone the Italian has made contact with.
Nigeria recorded first case of the dreaded virus when the Italian businessman arrived Lagos, the country’s most populous city, late February.
Since the disease was diagnosed in Nigeria, over 100 people have been quarantined in Lagos and Ogun states
