....Orders supplementary election in Ihiala LGA
Though the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and its candidate, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, had swept 18 of 20 local government areas declared in last Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, early Monday morning, suspended the announcement of a winner.
Rather, it announced that a supplementary election shall be held in the Ihiala Local Government Area where the exercise was cancelled due to alleged irregularities and serious security concerns.
The Returning Officer for the state in the election, Professor Florence Obi, also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, therefore, announced Tuesday, November 9, 2021, for re-run election in all 326 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area of the State.
