[Updated] Popular Yoruba Actor, Baba Suwe, Dies At 63; Buried in Ikorodu
Death has struck once again as veteran Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe, has died after a long battle with stroke.
The actor died on Monday at the age of 63.
Baba Suwe’s death was announced by one of his sons, Adesola Omidina.
He said: “This is to announce the sudden death of my father, Babatnde Omidina, the legend and rare gem, Baba Suwe on November 11, 2021. Details and other arrangements will be announced shortly.”
Born on August 22, 1958, in Inabere Street, Lagos Island where he grew indigene of Ikorodu, Lagos State
He had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary School in Lagos and Children Boarding School, Osogbo, before proceeding to Adekanbi Commercial High School in Mile 12, Lagos. He, however, obtained his West African School Certificate from Ifeoluwa Grammar School, Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
Baba Suwe became popular in Nollywood for his comical roles in Yoruba films.
He suffered poor health in 2018, making many Nigerians, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to donate funds for his medical treatment abroad.
He was be buried today by 4 p.m. at his residence, Ewu Elepe, Ikorodu, Lagos.
