BREAKING: Gunmen Abduct Igbo Chief in Ondo
Suspected gunmen suspected to be kidnappers are reported to have abducted the Eze Ndigbo of Ifon in Ose local government area of Ondo State, Chief Donatus Okereke
The abduction took place at the spot where the late Oluifon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi, was killed by yet to be identified gunmen.
The abduction of Chief Okereke, took place on Monday morning while he was returning from a quarry site.
An Ifon community leader, Olaniyi Eni Olotu, who confirmed the abduction said empty bullet shells were found near the car driven by Chief Okereke.
It was also suspected that the kidnappers also took away huge cash inside the victim’s vehicle.
“Immediately we got the alarm about his abduction, the Regent of Ifon swung into action and contacted the Police as well as the Amotekun corps,” Olotu said.
Ondo Police spokesman, DSP Fumilayo Odunlami, said it was a case of suspected kidnapping as no demand for ransom has been made.
She said, “He left his home saying that he wanted to go and purchase something. He actually went to a quarry within the area.
“It was later that his vehicle was seen in the middle of the road and his number was not going through after those who saw the vehicle tried his line.
“It is actually a case of suspected kidnapping because bullet shells were said to have been found where they saw his vehicle.
“The DPO within the axis has mobilised his men to search for him.”
