Court Sentences Ondo Civil Servant to Seven Years Imprisonment
An accountant with the Ondo State Hospital Management Board, Aminu Kamilu has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Mr. Aminu bagged the jail term after being found guity of stealing the sum of seven million naira belonging to the ondo state government.
Justice William Olamide of the State High Court who gave the judgement said all his evidences to absolve himself of culpability in the allegation of stealing government’s money did not hold water.
He, however acquitted the second defendant, Azeez Musa and emphasized that Aminu single handedly committed the offence.
The Judge also directed that state government to restore to their initial positions other civil servants indicted in connection to the theft.
Aminu, an accountant with the general Hospital Ikare, stole the money in 2017.
Justice Olamide said the sentence will serve as a deterrent to other civil servants who might want to tamper with government money.
