Three students of the high profile Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, are now cooling their heels in police net, telling investigators all they know about the death of Sylvester Oromoni jnr, a 12-year-old student of the college allegedly beaten dead for his refusal to be initiated into cult activity.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, who made the announcement in Lagos, Tuesday, also disclosed that three out of the five students are already in custody.
Oromoni had, before his death, Tuesday last week, named five students who he claimed attacked him in his dormitory, inflicting on him multiple internal injuries.
The late student’s father had claimed that his child was beaten and fed a liquid chemical which led to his death.
But the school dismissed the claim instantly, alleging that the 12-year-old sustained injuries while playing football with his colleagues.
Odumosu had earlier ordered an investigation into Oromoni’s death while Dowen College was also sealed off last Sunday by the state government.
The Police boss also stated that the suspects are assisting the police in their investigation.
The Lagos State government has since shut down the school, even while the police continue investigation into the matter.
