Oyetola Wins Big in Osun APC Primary Election

Incumbent Governor of the State of Osun, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, has won the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  held throughout the state on Saturday.

Chairman of the primary election committee and Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrasak Abdulrahman, declared Oyetola winner in the small hours of Sunday, saying the governor won the party’s ticket with 222,169 votes.

The former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti,  came second with polled 12,921 votes, Abdulrahman announced, adding that the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf came a distant third having polled 460 votes.

The total registered voters for the exercise, according to Abdulrahman, was 408,697, while those accredited for the exercise was 247, 207, and the total vote cast and valid votes stood at 235550.

Declaring Oyetola winner, the Kwara Governor declared: “I, Abdulrasak Abdulrahman, Chairman of Osun Direct Primary committee, hereby certify that Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, having secured the highest number of votes in the election, is hereby declared winner.”

While former Governor of the State and Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola described the exercise as  a sham, the Osun APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, gave thumb up for the vote, praising the election committee for doing a great job.
