Nigerian Media Mourns Again, as Emeka Obasi, Hallmark publisher, Dies at 58

About three weeks after the Nigerian media lost Dr. Sunny Emmanuel Ojeagbase,one of its pillars and pioneer of exclusive sports publications in the country to the icy clutches of death, another media giant has fallen.

Prince Emeka Obasi, veteran journalist and publisher of Hallmark Newspaper, has died at the age of 58. Ojeagbase was 71 when he bowed out of the world’s stage.

Obasi, a former Commissioner for Information in Abia State and a Public Relations expert, reportedly succumbed to an undisclosed ailment which he had been battling for sometime early Wednesday.

In fact, the award-winning journalist, according to family sources, had battled with the condition for eight years.

A highly creative mind, Obasi was the founder and Executive Secretary of the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), organisers of the annual Zik Prize in Leadership Awards.
