Group Shows Love for Widows, Needy at Erekiti Community During Easter

Relief came the way of over two hundred people of Erekiti Community in Okitipupa Local Government of Ondo State during the Easter period as a group of sons and daughters reached out to the aged, widows, widowers, needy and the sick.

The event that took place at the Saint Paul Anglican Church is described as an act  of giving back to the community, according to the organizers, Seyi Adaja and Bukola Abilawon.

“We were deeply touched by the plight of our people who are daily ravaged by poverty, lack and diseases,” Adaja said. “The only way to give back to the community that has produced great Nigerians is for the sons and daughters at home and abroad to come together and assist the people in whichever way we can.

According to Adaja, food items and cash were donated to over two hundred beneficiaries.

“The decision to organise the programme was based on the difficult situation in the country and since government can’t do it alone, we saw the need to revert to self-help initiative to ameliorate the suffering of our people.

“We reach out to our brothers and sisters at home and abroad where we explained the situation of these categories of people to them and to our surprise, less than a month, they were able to mobilize over a million naira to organise the programme. Hopefully, it’s going to be a continuous event as I can boldly say this is a tip of the iceberg.”

Speaking on this development, the representatives of the community head at the epoch making event, Chief Iranlowo Kowe expresses the people’s gratitude to the organizers praying that  God’s protection will continue to be upon them.
