A love-turned-sour case ended in tragedy in Abuja on Saturday as a love-struck lady allegedly committed suicide after her boyfriend reportedly abandoned her for another girl.
Simply identified as Rejoice, the 23-year-old mother of one reportedly took her own life at the GRA area of Mpape, a suburb of Abuja, by drinking the deadly pesticide, snipper.
Apart from her boyfriend’s alleged unfaithfulness, the deceased was also said to be going through hell catering for her 18-month-old daughter, who she had for another man.
Although the Federal Capital Territory Police Command was yet to confirm the tragic incident at the time of filing this report, the young mother was said to have threatened suicide in the past but nobody took her serious.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the story, said Rejoice’s lifeless body was found in the bathroom of the family house and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.
She was confirmed dead on arrival.
Rejoice, who has since been buried, is survived by her 18.month-old daughter, her parents and siblings.
