Jubilation As Court Nullifies All Ogun PDP Primaries
It was jubilation galore on Tuesday in some part of Ogun State, especially around Ikenne, Ijebu-Ode, Shagamu and the State capital, Abeokuta, after a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing or accepting all the candidates produced by Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.
The Federal High Court 1 in Abeokuta, Ogun state , nullified the state primary election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that produced Ladi Adebutu as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2023 general elections in the state and other state primaries elections.
Hon. Justice O.O Oguntoyinbo, during the sitting in Abeokuta on Tuesday ordered that the party should immediately conduct fresh governorship primaries to accommodate all interests/groups.
Anxiety and apprehension were heightened as the Court gave today for its ruling in a suit filed by Prince Adesegun Seriki and three others against Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP.
Prince Seriki and his Co – plaintiffs were seeking the Court’s explicite order to enforce their rights as the rightful and legitimate PDP candidates for the 2023 general elections in Ogun State.
