As a lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, at that, Arakunrin Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, Governor of Ondo State, is not an unduly emotional person. His training and job as a lawyer serving in the temple of justice has toughened him beyond sentiment and cheap emotions.
But when he visited the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Kingdom, where dare-devil terrorists massacred about 50 worshipers on Sunday, Governor Akeredolu wept. He was overwhelmed by the profound sorrow he felt at the mindless carnage unleashed on the innocent worshipers by the evil terrorists.
When he found his voice, he commiserated with the good people of Ondo State and families that lost loved ones in the attack.
“This is an unexpected development,” said Akeredolu, who had to rushed down from Abuja where he had joined other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who had congregated at the Federal Capital for the party’s convention/presidential primary kicking off on Monday.
“I am shocked to say the least,” he continued. “Nevertheless, we shall commit every available resource to hunt down these assailants and make them pay. We shall never bow to the machinations of heartless elements in our resolve to rid our state of criminals.”
After visiting the church, Governor Akeredolu also visited and commiserated with victims who were receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Akure, the state capital, for the various injuries they sustained during the attack.
