Social and rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has categorically denied being a member of the recently launched Campaign Council of the Labour Party, LP.
The 1,234-member council has Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo, as Director-General. The list of the council’s members was released 14 days after the official commencement of campaigns for the forthcoming 2023 general election
But since Labour Party unveiled the council on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, social media had been awash with reports that Ms.Yesufu was a member.
I have made it categorically clear I am a citizen. I am not holding any position nor on any list. I don’t do appointments!
The rumour forced the rights activist to come out her shell on Sunday and issued a rebuttal through her verified Twitter handle, @AishaYesufu.
“When was I made a Labour party PCC member?” she asked rhetorically. “I see how that is being thrown all around. I am not a labour party member neither am I on their list. I have made it categorically clear I am a citizen. I am not holding any position nor on any list. I don’t do appointments!”
