Murder in Palace: Buhari Orders Speedy Investigation and Suspects’ Arrest
According to reports, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen reportedly stormed the palace of the monarch during a meeting on Monday and murdered the traditional ruler, two palace chiefs, and two other members of the community.
A statement issued Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said Buhari condemned the heinous crime, and ordered security agents to hunt the murderers to their hellholes and bring them to account.
“The President directs security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate the dastardly act and ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” Shehu revealed in the statement.
Buhari commiserated with family, friends, the Obudi-Agwa community, as well as all those affected by the attacks, and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The President, said the statement, acknowledged the spirited efforts by the Imo State Government at improving the security situation and encouraged all Imo residents and citizens to robustly support the collective efforts of state actors and members of the local community to keep everyone safe.
