The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Presidential Campaign Council flagged off campaign train in IIorin, the Kwara State, Thursday, with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, at the helm of affairs.
The First Lady’s powerful train included serving and former First Ladies of some states, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu a Serving Senator and Wife of the APC candidate, the First Lady of Osun State, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, as well as the Women Leader of the Asiwaju/Shettima Presidential Campaign In Oyo State.
However, it is not what they said at the campaign that set people talking on social media but a singular act by Mrs. Aisha Buhari.
Dressed in a colourful APC-modelled attire, the First Lady was cut displaying and swinging with the inverted figure 8 symbol that has become one of the signatures of the ruling party’s Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, boldly etched on her two palms.
Both video and picture set the social media on fire, recording 8, 663 tweets within the first few hours of its release.
While Tinubu’s supporters praised Aisha to high heavens for leading the women from the front in the campaign to get Tinubu succeed her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, tons of flak and darts flew from those sympathetic to opposing parties/candidates, especially, Obidients, as supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate are popularly called.
Female jourrnalist and author, Arabinrin Aderonke (@AderonkeW) tweeted:”Wife of Nigeria’s President, Mrs Aisha Buhari is fully Batified!”
“Aisha Buhari launched it’s 8-8=0 women campaign”. That’s how social critic and rights activist, Abiyos Roni (@AbbaM_Abiyos), captioned the photo.
Of the picture, Mercy Attih (@AttihMercy) wrote: “This is Aisha Buhari telling the whole world that Tinubu is officially 88 years old. Me: INEC should take note, please.”
