PDP, APC Renew Hostility over Tribunal Judgment in Osun

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have renewed their hostility over alleged plot to bribe three judges presiding over the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, ahead of the judgment later this month.

The APC candidate, former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, is challenging the victory of the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, on the strength of over-voting in 749 polling units and certificate forgery.

At the last sitting, the Chairman of the panel, Justice Tertse Kume, adjourned for judgment.

A statement by the Caretaker Chairman of PDP, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, alleged that Oyetola and APC were planning to compromise the judgment.

According to him, “credible information shows that the former governor is struggling to schedule a secret meeting with members of the tribunal for this Friday at a closely guarded location.

“The goal of the meeting is to convince them to sway their ruling in favour of the petitioners. The plan is, however, meeting a brick wall, as the judges are reported to have shut the doors against any such meeting, being incorruptible officers of law with hard earned reputation and years of unblemished service.”

However, APC through its Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement berated PDP, stressing that Oyetola needs not press any button for his victory in all ramifications.

He urged the public to disregard the mere composition rolled out by the PDP about corner cutting by Oyetola concerning the tribunal, “as it is absolute falsehood and a figment of the imagination of those who put it together.”
