Abdullahi, second to the last son of the late Nigerian dictator, General Sani Abacha, has died in his sleep in Abuja. He was aged 36.

Fatimah Gumsu Abacha-Buni, the First Lady of Yobe State and sister to the deceased, broke the tragic news through her Facebook page on Saturday, saying her brother died in his sleep in the early hours of Friday at his Nelson Mandela Street. Asokoro, Abuja.

Gumsu wrote: “Innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun (Surely, we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return). I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha. He died in his sleep. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdaos (paradise), Ameen. Please include him in your prayers”.

In a related post, she also announced that funeral prayers would be held for the deceased at the National Mosque in Abuja at 4 p.m., after which his earthly remains will be buried at Gudu Cemetery, also in the Federal Capital.

The late Abdullahi was one of the nine children of the late Nigerian Head of State.
