Anyaoku, Osoba, Emefiele, 10 Supreme Court Justices, Top Buhari’s Last National Awards
President Muhammadu Buhari has put put a broad smile on the faces of 338 deserving Nigerians as he gifted them with various categories of national awards. The approval for the special awards is part of the last acts of the President as his administration expires at midnight.
Former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, tops the honours roll as he is awarded the second biggest national honour in the land, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON. The GCON award is usually awarded to Vice Presidents and Chief Justices of the Federation, CJN.
Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, and former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba, 10 Justices of the Supreme Court and 11 others, clinched the Commander of the Federal Republic, CFR, award.
Incoming First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, several outgoing Ministers and Governors populate the category of the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON. In all, there are 75 recipients in this category.
Ten Justices of the Court of Appeal, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) since 2014, Amaju Melvin Pinnick and controversial businessman, Terry Waya, made the category of the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR, comprising 77 recipients.
