Dambazau, ex-Interior Minister, Gets Ede’s Top Chieftaincy Title
All the way from the historical town of Ede in Osun State, a huge honour has located a former Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, as he bags one of the ancient town’s top chieftaincy titles.
In a letter dated May 15, 2023, the paramount ruler of the ancient town, His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, on behalf of the Timi-in-Council, bestowed the title of Jagunmolu of Edeland on the former Chief of Army Staff.
Transliterated, the title of Jagunmolu means an all-conquering warrior.
The latest honour is a powerful addition to the flowery feathers adorning Dambazau’s cap.
Speaking to The Crest on the honour, an elated Dambazau expressed Deep gratitude to the Paramount ruler of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, saying: “My joy knows no bounds at the conferment of the title of Jagunmolu of Edeland by His Royal Majesty.
“To be so honoured by such a highly respected Royal Father like His Majesty, the Timi of Edeland, is a powerful statement in nationalism and national unity; as well as love for Fatherland. I cannot take this for granted. I will cherish it for as long as I live. I cannot thank His Majesty enough.”
Dambazau, the Jagunmolu of Edeland, who holds a PhD in criminology, also told The Crest that the conferment means more dedicated and selfless service to Nigeria; as well as commitment to the progress of Edeland.
Dambazau, a recipient of the national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR, also holds the prestigious title of Baraden Kano. The title was bestowed on him by the deposed Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.
