Police Withdraw Mobile Officers Attached to Aisha Buhari, Mamman Daura, Iyorchia Ayu, Boss Mustapha, Others

Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, the highly influential brother to the former President, Mallam Mamman Daura, as well as the immediate Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, have all lost the services of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel attached to them while they were in office.

A report monitored on Channels Television, Monday, said the order for the personnel’s withdrawal also affected former Senate President and the immediate past National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu.

The Police High Command issued the order for the withdrawal via a Police Wireless Message, marking it immediate.

Channels Television quoted the Police authorities as saying that the action was part of an “ongoing reassessment and reorganization of security details by the Nigerian Police Force.” And it aims at optimizing the deployment of police personnel as well as ensuring the effective use of resources in line with prevailing security challenges in the country.

As if to reassure Nigerians, the police authorities restated that the withdrawal of PMF personnel from the high-profile individuals was not neither punitive nor consequent upon any specific threat or security breach. Rather, the Force insisted that  the action was in sync with the “broader goal of streamlining security arrangements to meet the evolving security needs of the nation.”

The report added that “While the affected individuals may no longer have PMF personnel assigned exclusively to their protection, it is important to note that they will still benefit from other security arrangements provided by relevant agencies.”
