Sowore Leads As NLC Begins Protest in Lagos, Abuja
Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have commenced protest in Lagos.
The protesters have converged on the Ikeja under-bridge in Lagos and marching to the House of Assembly.
There is heavy gridlock along the routes leading to Ikeja.
They are protesting against recent fuel price hike, tuition fees hike in public schools and withheld salaries of lecturers and workers in universities.
Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate for African Action Congress in the 2023 General Elections, was one of the eggheads at the protest.
Meanwhile, National President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero and other officials of the union have assembled at the Unity Fountain at Abuja for a “peaceful protest”.
Also gathered at the protest ground are the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Muhammed Ibrahim, representatives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, National Union of Road Transport Workers among others.
They are gathered to protest the increment in fuel prices and reversal of some of FG’s policies.
