Zulum Boosts War Against Terrorism; Donates 50 Patrol Vans, 300 Motorcycles to Military, CJTF, Hunters
The war against insurgency, terrorism and banditry received a major boost, Friday, as the Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, distributed over 50 patrol vehicles and 300 motorcycles to the Nigerian military and volunteers from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hunters, all of whom are involved in weaving a strong security web across the state.
The distribution which took place at the multi-purpose hall of the Government House in Maiduguri yesterday, according to a statement by the spokesman of the governor, This was disclosed to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Isa Gusau, who said the primary objective of the gesture was to enhance surveillance and execution of preventive and responsive operations against insurgents, bandits and allied criminals.
At the event, Governor Zulum presented the vehicles to the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Gold Chibuisi, who supervises military operations in the northeast as well as volunteers from the CJTF and hunters collaborating with the military in executing the war.
Making the presentation, Zulum gave the breakdown of the vehicles donated as including 30 Toyota Hilux and 175 motorcycles to the military; 20 Toyota Hilux and 75 motorcycles to both the Civilian Joint TaskForce (CJTF) and hunters; while Agro Rangers Squad of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who help to secure farming activities got 10 motorcycles.
Zulum said: “This is the first phase of the distribution of vehicles to security agencies in our second term,” Zulum said. “While the military and the volunteers will benefit from today’s distribution, the Nigerian Police and other security outfits will receive the same in our subsequent batches.”
