The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made a big harvest of arrests in Abraka, Delta State, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, and arrested 52 suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo Boys, at their hideout.
Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson who broke the news, said the suspects were arrested in the university town when the commission’s operatives from the Benin Zonal Command swooped on their hideout following actionable intelligence that linked them to sundry cyber-crimes, especially internet fraud.
Among those in the EFCC net are: Okpoikibo Blessing, Seth Chukwumah, Success Oghenekuwe, Ugboko Constance, Michael Amen, Ebiren Emmanuel, Emuerhime Louis Victory, Wisdom Uwaoluetan, Odiri Ejiro, Ejenavi Maro, Oyinkepreye Eric, Prosper Enahoro, Ogbebor Princewill, Ogbebor Clinton, Enabor Peter Odianosen, Apoi Ufuoma., Apoi Purity, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Andrew Ogwu, Joshua Osiobe, Christian Skinn, Opiete Godbless and Ugboko Justin.
Others are: Ezeagbor Chibuzor, Aneh Auwerosuo, Solomon Robinson, Frank- Ese Oheoghene, Dafinome Osume, Adigbuo Raphael, Akai Philip, Ariomaghwa Lucky, Prince Tamunotonye, Jeffrey Nwose, Edah Edison, Isoso Precious, Akpouona-Imomoh Malcolm, Berta Akpoveta, Johnson Chinechere, Okpidi Oghenerukevwe, and Ogizeh Japheth.
The remaining include: Ohareh Isaiah Owadinisu, Aloamalant Emmanuel Ifechukwude, Oghenechouwe Emuese, James Hart Okon, Tsebi Princewill, Oyinkepreye Anderson, ThankGod Okeke, Adigbuo Raphel Chijinda, Gajah James and Uchechukwu Victory Tabowen
In addition to the harvest of arrests, the EFCC also recovered some exotic cars from the suspected Yahoo Boys. These include: five Lexus RX350, one Mercedes Benz GLA, three Mercedes Benz GLA 350, and one Honda Accord. Some Laptop computers and mobile phones were also seized from the suspects.
Uwujaren says the suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as the ongoing investigation is concluded.
