The mysterious deaths that have claimed almost 650 citizens in Kano City in the past two weeks have continued to strike and spike unravelled death.
The varsity don, Dr Ghali Umar of the Department of Architecture of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, died on Monday amid increasing fears that the situation may linger.
The late Dr. Umar is the fifth university don to die within the three days
The Vice Chancellor of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Professor Shehu Musa, confirmed Umar’s demise in a statement.
“We regret to announce the death of Arch. Dr. Ghali Kabir Umar, of the Department of Architecture,” he said.
Until his sudden death, Dr. Umar was a Head of Department and a Senior Lecturer in the department of Architecture.
The Vice Chancellor prayed Allah to forgive the deceased his sins and reward him with Jannatul Firdaus.”
Both Kano State and the Federal Government are investigating the deaths.
