A man who preyed on a 13-year-old pupil he was privately engaged to teach after school is now cooling his feet in the custody of the Ogun State Police Command.
A report published by Punch newspaper said Femi Onayemi was arrested for having carnal knowledge of the 13-year-old girl (name withheld) at her home at the Obada-Oko area of the state.
The newspaper reported that the victim’s parents had hired the suspect in 2023 to teach her at home. But the suspect had other ideas. He was caught ‘pants down’ on June 9, 2024 at the girl’s home.
According to the report, the girl’s parents were shell-shocked when, on that fateful day, they saw that the suspect had scaled the fence of their home to have carnal knowledge of the 13-year-old.
Spokesperson of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Omolola Odutola, was said to have confirmed the crime as well as Onayemi’s arrest.
“The parents of the minor approached our division at Obada Oko on June 12, 2024, to report the incident,” said the police public relations officer. “The suspect was employed in 2023 to help the survivor with her studies at home.
“However, on June 9, 2024, the suspect was caught committing the crime after he had jumped over the fence of the house. Our men swung into action immediately after the matter was reported.
“The suspect was also believed to be attending the same church that the survivor attends every Sunday. He confessed to the crime after we arrested him.”
