In a commendation that underscores the significance of cultural heritage and tourism, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams, has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his efforts in advancing tourism in Ekiti State.
One of the notable actions of Governor Oyebanji is his personal engagement in tourism activities, including hiking a mountain in Ekiti State. This not only showcases the state’s natural attractions but also sets a precedent for promoting active tourism.
Further, the governor’s establishment of the Bureau of Tourism marks a significant step towards structured and strategic development in the sector. In a move that underscores his commitment to excellence, Governor Oyebanji appointed Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, a renowned tourism expert, as the Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism
The governor’s administration is also focused on creating a comprehensive tourism policy and a Tourism Master Plan. These initiatives are aimed at providing a clear roadmap for the sustainable development of tourism in the state. According to Adams, Governor Oyebanji sees the potential for tourism in every aspect of the state’s culture, history, and natural resources.
“I commend Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership and proactive measures in promoting tourism. His efforts are not just about boosting the economy but also about preserving and celebrating our rich cultural heritage,” Adams stated.
As Ekiti State continues to garner attention for its tourism initiatives, the governor’s approach is seen as a model for other states seeking to harness their cultural and natural assets for economic growth.
The Okota Festival 2024 which was a huge success was attended by over 24 traditional rulers from Yoruba land with the Owa Ale of Ikare Oba Kolapo Adegbite Adedoyin as the Royal Father of the colorful cultural tourism celebration.
