Police Confirm Arrest of Suspect in Brutal Murder of ex-CBN Staff
Investigation into the gruesome murder of a former employee of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN, his wife, and son, has got underway in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, where operatives of the State Police Command have arrested a suspect linked to the crime.
Mr. and Mrs. Kehinde and Oluwabukunola Fatinoye were brutally killed at their Government Reservation Area residence in Ibara, Abeokuta, shortly after returning from the crossover service in the wee hours of New Year day.
The blood mongering murderers were also reported to have set their corpses ablaze and abducted their son and housemaid.
Kehinde Fatinoye was a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria while his wife was also an ex-staff member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, SP, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, saying that a suspect had been arrested and investigation was ongoing.
“The incident happened after 12 in the morning,” Oyeyemi disclosed. “It is true that a couple was killed and set ablaze at their residence in Abeokuta, shortly after they returned from Crossover Service.
“This is a clear case of assassination and we are not leaving any stone unturned to unravel those behind the killings. One person has been arrested by our operatives in connection to the incident. We will get to the root of the matter, as investigation has since begun.”
Meanwhile, the earthly remains of the murdered couple were laid to rest on Monday, January 2, 2023.
