As investigation into the fiscal and financial conducts of the defunct Nasir el-Rufai Administration in Kaduna State thickens by the day, as the dragnet of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) caught another big fish yesterday.

Thee anti-graft agency arrested the former Accountant-General and Finance Commissioner, Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, at a Lagos airport yesterday.

Reports said Bada was allegedly trying to flee the country when ICPC operatives swooped on her and took her in for questioning concerning the increasing allegations of corruption against the el-Rufai Administration that she served as Finance Commissioner.

A source close to the investigation disclosed that Bada’s arrest added to the statistics of high- profile persons that served under the administration who are being scrutinized for betraying the people’s trust through alleged mismanagement of funds.

Before she got caught yesterday, sources said ICPC had been trailing her for some time but she often managed to disappear from the radar before operatives of the anti-graft agency could swoop on her.

The Crest learnt that there may be more high-profile arrests as investigation into massive mismanagement of public funds under the administration widens.

The ICPC, said one source, is poised to reveal the depth of the rot it has uncovered while scrutinizing the administration’s management of public funds during the eight years it held sway.

Former Governor Nasir el-Rufai is yet to react to the latest development which a stakeholder in Kaduna described as “major”.
