Zwingina, former Senate Leader, dies at 70

A former Senate Majority Leader, and ex-lawmaker representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, Dr. Jonathan Zwingina, has reportedly succumbed to a protracted illness and died at the age of 70.

According to Leadership newspaper, Zwingina, also former Director-General of the MKO Abiola campaign Organisation in the June 12, 1993 presidential election, passed on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the National Hospital, Abuja.

But the family of the deceased grassroots politician is yet to make an official announcement.

The Crest has also been unable to independently confirm the demise of the colourful politician has yet to formally confirm his death, Leadership Newspaper reports that the Adamawa State-born politician died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 70 in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Dr. Zwingina, an impactful senator in his time, was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but later defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, where he remained a stalwart till his death.
