The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, now has a new helmsman as Mr. Ben Iloanusi has been appointed as its acting Managing Director.
Confirming the change of guard on Sunday, NRC’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, said the development was sequel to the completion of Fidet Okhiria’s second four-year tenure.
According to Mahmood, the change took effect from Friday, October 18, 2024, when Okhiria formally handed over to Iloanusi.
Mahmood statement detailed Iloanusi’s qualifications and experience.
Iloanusi, who joined the NRC in 2011, rose through the ranks to become the most senior Executive Director. Since 2019, he has served as the Deputy Director of Procurement. He holds a degree in political science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA in international management from South Bank University, London.
In his farewell speech, Fidet Okhiria expressed gratitude to the entire NRC staff for their support during his tenure and encouraged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
“I enjoin the management and staff of the corporation to extend the same co-operation and understanding to the acting managing director,” Okhiria said.
In response, Iloanusi appealed for the support of the NRC’s workforce and welcomed constructive criticism aimed at enhancing the organization’s performance.
He affirmed his dedication to leading the corporation efficiently throughout this transition phase.
